Being the best is more than a title, it means walking the talk.

Antonino Salon and Spa takes pride in setting ourselves apart from the rest. With our constant commitment to excellent customer service and our continued desire to learn, we feel confident that we will always provide our guests with unforgettable experiences and the highest quality and most current hair and spa services.

It is because of that desire and commitment that we actually closed the salon for two days to host an in-salon educational event.

On November 13 & 14, 2017, all our stylists were successfully trained by one of Wella’s top Educators, Galin Hristov in an innovative hair-cutting system called Cut Craft. Galin, winner of numerous Wella awards,  successfully shared his passion, creativity, discipline and vast knowledge and experience from two continents with our stylists.

Cut Craft, designed by Wella, is a four-day event that stylists from around the world can attend in Chicago or New York. Anthony Marsalese, owner of Antonino Salon along with the salon’s two Education Directors, Cassie Karawan and Catherine Wallis attended the event in April, 2017. Upon returning, the trio immediately began the process of bringing the experience back home so all the stylists at the salon could be treated to the training.

With an intense two-day version, the seminar focused on the cause and effect of hair-cutting techniques and shapes. Everyone was taught how to achieve the absolute, most perfect looks for their guests, while discovering how to create infinite possibilities showcasing their talent.

By being educated on how to determine the best technique and shapes for their guests, everyone learned how to create with purpose by understanding how to back up their internal instincts with professional methods. Of course, all this while keeping their guests personal style in mind.

The Antonino family has members who just recently graduated beauty school to people with over thirty years of experience, but everyone worked together as a team and learned from one another” said Anthony, adding “this is only the beginning of what we expect to be a long relationship with Wella and Cut Craft”.

Antonino Salon-where there are no bad hair days…ever

Voted “Best Salon” three years in a row by Hour Detroit

Antonino Salon is located at 191 Townsend in downtown Birmingham (directly across from the Townsend Hotel).

Antonino Salon and Spa first introduced “Mirror-Mirror”, an innovative and creative video last Summer. The video, designed by Anthony Marsalese and filmed by FYT Productions, features normal people getting ready for their day by prepping in the mirror. “The uniqueness of this video is the camera is the mirror”, says Anthony “and so far it’s a hit”. With hair by Anthony, Catherine Wallis and Laura Kubaki and makeup by Todd’s Room, the video has made a huge statement along Townsend Street, where it is played 24/7 on oversized television monitors in the salon’s windows.

On November 7, the hair design team of Anthony, Catherine and Monique Vanderkerkhof, the makeup team Todd Scogg and Raquel of Todd’s Room and clothing design by Lyudviga Shneyder of Lyudviga Couture Design, met to create Mirror-Mirror Two.

Following the same idea, this shoot still shows people getting ready in the mirror, but for a more “glamorous” evening out.

Look for the second video to appear soon but in the meantime, check out these behind the scene pictures.

Antonino stylists, Jenny Taylor, Catherine Wallis and Janel Asmar recently worked backstage creating beautiful hair and makeup at a fashion show benefiting NCJW.

NCJW (National Council of Jewish Women) is a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideas into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children and families and safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.

The show on September 3, 2015 took place at Shaarey Zedik and featured clothing from Tender, Max Mara, Eileen Fisher and Milieu.

Making a difference in the community; just another reason why Antonino Salon is the best salon in town.
