Hair trends for 2015 have been short, long and for the first time in a long time, medium (the Lob).

“Although they are completely different looks, the common denominator in each of the three lengths has been ‘structured imperfection’, meaning each style has a precision haircut but is styled to look tousled and sexy”, says Anthony Marsalese of Antonino Salon in Birmingham, Michigan.

All of the stylists at Antonino Salon participate in on-going educational events where they continue to advance their education by staying on top of current trends, forecasting what’s to come and learning the new techniques to achieve those styles.

The hottest trend in men's styling for 2014

The hottest trend in men’s styling for 2014

One of the hottest hair trends of 2014 may surprise you…….

Alongside the “Lob”, and the “Pixie”, MEN are heading the runways in the world of beauty.

Anthony Marsalese, owner of the upscale Antonino Salon and Spa in Birmingham, Michigan, just returned from Intercoiffure’s Fall Atelier in New York City. The two-day event, held at the Waldorf Astoria, is by invitation only and is the premier event of the year in the beauty industry. Anthony has been a member of the prestigious organization for over ten years and hasn’t missed an atelier yet.

This year there was a “surprising trend” says Anthony, “two of the biggest presentations featured only men”. “Most people used to think of only women when they conjured a vision of Fall fashion, but that is quickly changing” said Anthony, “the day of the ‘metro-sexual’ is over and the idea of men visiting salons and spas has finally become mainstream and we’re finding more and more men now realize the value of looking and feeling their best”.

The percentage of male to female customers at Antonino Salon has doubled over the last few years as more and more men are beginning to color their hair and treat themselves to manicures, pedicures and other specialized spa services.

So, ladies, the time has come for the other half of the world’s population to share the runways and headlines in the fashion world.

And men, It’s time to step up, stay current and show the world that beauty isn’t just for women anymore.

All of the stylists at Antonino Salon and Spa are trained in men’s haircutting techniques and keep up to date on all the current men’s trends. Just another reason why Antonino Salon and Spa is the best salon in town.

Steps five through 8 in creating a perfect French Braid-images provided by Hairtalk extensions.

1. Create a side part at the temple sectioning the hair as shown in step 1. This will keep it contained while you move on to step 2.

2. Start a French braid at the opposite temple and work your way around the head as shown.

3. Once you arrive at the back of your shoulder, transition the French braid into a regular braid that will fall in front of your shoulder.

4. Next, take down the clipped section and create a basic fishtail braid. Secure it with a small clear elastic band.

5. Take the fishtail and wrap it around to the back of your head. Tuck it into the French braid and pull the tail through (see photo 5).

6. The end of the fishtail braid that is exposed should be incorporated into the French braid by pinning it into place.

7. Soften and texturize this look by gently tugging on small sections of the braids.

8. For a more romantic look you can also remove a few hairs towards the hairline, finish with a fine mist of flexible hairspray.
