Antonino's Signature BlowDry

Antonino’s Signature BlowDry

Bigger is Better

Big hair is on the rise (forgive the pun) and by using the best products and styling techniques, it’s easier than ever to achieve.

It begins with the right products

“Using the appropriate products is the foundation for creating big, glamorous looks”, says Anthony Marsalese, owner of Antonino Salon and Spa in Birmingham, Michigan. “When a guest comes in for a special event, we consult with them about their desired hairstyle, and then we analyze their hair texture and type to determine which products are best to achieve that look”.

Anthony continues by saying “Antonino Salon offers many products for achieving full, bouncy and beautiful hair. Oribe’s ‘Imperial Blowout’, ‘Maximista’, ‘Volumista’ and ‘Grandiose Mousse’ are all excellent choices, as is Moroccanoil’s newest addition ‘Thickening Lotion’. It’s all just a matter of where you’re starting from and where you want to go”.

Then comes the technique

The Antonino Signature BlowDry was derived from a French technique called the French Blow Dry which was created for women who want body, shine and glamorous hair.

“We begin the process by drying sections at the top of the head in the opposite direction of where we’d like the hair to fall” says Anthony. “We then either put a roller in that section or lay it in an over directed position as it cools as we continue onto the next section. When we are through blow-drying the entire head in the same manner, we gently shake the hair into the desired style. The result is beautiful, full hair that is ready for the red carpet”.

All of the stylists at Antonino Salon have been extensively trained in the Antonino Signature BlowDry and are educated on how to teach this method to their guests so they can replicate it at home.

Presented by the DIA’s Founders Junior Council, an auxiliary committed to inspire a new generation of art lovers to show their support, Fash Bash is the DIA’s second largest fundraiser of the year.

An exciting runway show was presented by Neiman Marcus, and gave us a taste of what to expect in fashion for fall and winter, 2015.

“There will definitely be a lot of plaid patterns, jewel tones and hem lines that bounce as you move”, said Anthony Marsalese, owner of Antonino Salon and Spa, adding, “gray tones and a Victorian influence will also be making a huge comeback”. As far as accessories are concerned, look for dress gloves, large cuffs and skinny scarves.

The short haircut trend has come back with a bang (long bang that is). Ever since Ann Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence kick started the trend a couple of years ago, the style has become wildly popular and continues to be a major “head-turner” at parties.

“A good short haircut should accentuate a person’s facial features”, says Anthony Marsalaese of Antonino Salon, adding that “It should also be versatile; just because someone has short hair, they should still be able to wear it different ways”.

In keeping with their promise of “no bad hair days…..ever”, the clients at Antonino Salon not only get a great haircut, they also get a lesson in how to do their hair. “We want our clients to be able to recreate the style ”, says Anthony, “which is extremely important, especially when getting a new look”.
