Alongside the “Lob”, and the “Pixie”, MEN are heading the runways in the world of beauty.

Anthony Marsalese, owner of the upscale Antonino Salon and Spa in Birmingham, Michigan, just returned from Intercoiffure’s Fall Atelier in New York City. The two-day event, held at the Waldorf Astoria, is by invitation only and is the premier event of the year in the beauty industry. Anthony has been a member of the prestigious organization for over ten years and hasn’t missed an atelier yet.

This year there was a “surprising trend” says Anthony, “two of the biggest presentations featured only men”. “Most people used to think of only women when they conjured a vision of Fall fashion, but that is quickly changing” said Anthony, “the day of the ‘metro-sexual’ is over and the idea of men visiting salons and spas has finally become mainstream and we’re finding more and more men now realize the value of looking and feeling their best”.

The percentage of male to female customers at Antonino Salon has doubled over the last few years as more and more men are beginning to color their hair and treat themselves to manicures, pedicures and other specialized spa services.

 

So, ladies, the time has come for the other half of the world’s population to share the runways and headlines in the fashion world.

And men, It’s time to step up, stay current and show the world that beauty isn’t just for women anymore.

With 12 of our stylists in attendance, the stylists from Antonino Salon and Spa had a major presence at this year’s Intercoiffure-America’s Spring Symposium in Hollywood, Florida on May 19 & 20.

The Symposium, at The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, included runway shows, educational demonstrations and “hands-on” training. Highly respected educators such as Tom Despenza, Jo Blackwell, Belinda Gambuzza, Vivienne Mackinder and Lauren Gartland were only a few guest artists that shared their knowledge with the more than 300 attendees.
Intercoiffure-Mondial, an exclusive organization representing 3000 salons from 55 countries, is truly a label of international quality. The organization is made up of beauty industry leaders, including our own Anthony Marsalese. Found in such cities as Paris, New York, Tokyo, Berlin, London, Rome and of course, Birmingham, Michigan, these leaders are fashion orientated, keen in expanding their profession and ready to share their knowledge as part of the respect of moral values.
